Now we're entering into the realm of potentially damaging your camera in conducting the fix. Good Luck! This person had a similar lens error to yours and fixed it by grabbing and holding onto the lens barrel as it was attempting to reclose.

Realizing the camera was out of warranty, and the cost of repair would equal or exceed the price of the camera, I tried a desperation move. Anyone else out there have any success by applying a tiny bit of oil around the lens barrel? I'm re-charging the battery (it had sitting a while) and who knows?
