and you should try solutions suggested in the other answers here, it may also happen that your camera has a manufacturing defect. These cameras are mostly made of plastic, and it can even happen under regular use where nothing was done wrong. Then a few gentle pushes on the 'gap' side of the lens, and testing the telephoto button till it stopped saying lens error - and hey presto - sharp pictures, as I tried pulling the lens to keep if from going back in, but that did not work.

With Samsung's release of the Galaxy S4 Zoom, I'm really curious to see if this will also be a issue/problem with this camera phone (and other phones with optical zoom). The logo is showing up dark as much of the battery power is likely going to the lens motor trying to overcome the sand. There is actually a guy on EBay doing this for $35 and how I first heard about it and then researched the problem on the WEB. whilst using the camera, the battery went flat and the lens became stuck in the extended position even after replacing a fully charged battery. Do you know of anyone else with a similar camera that you may borrow their battery to try with your camera? They should fix this for free. Now we're entering into the realm of potentially damaging your camera in conducting the fix. When you looked at it the lens "hole" was sideways and it would not retract completely inside the camera. Because it has attracted low-quality or spam answers that had to be removed, posting an answer now requires 10 reputation on this site (the association bonus does not count).
This extra power can be useful in overcoming grit or sand particals that may be jamming the lens. Is there a simple solution to the error? I was taking picture of pictures i had to draw for a class.
