It was amazing, I felt like some kind of genius and bragged to all my friends. when it wants to extend but it cant do so, i fix it by patiently pulling on the lens. Have updated the posting as suggested. And while it should be obvious that anything can potentially fail [in infinite variation] typically, it's moving parts and poor contacts that are at fault -- And your site nailed it

I did everything up to the tapping step, which worked, however, when the lens finally opened I had no picture, it was just white. There are also about 50 screws of varying sizes. i have been able to leverage the lens out about 3mm but i can't pull it out any further. I have DS126071 that 7/12/2016 7/13/2016 Richard I can't find where to put an SDcard .on my Nikon P610.
If the motor stops working altogether the lens will jam and the lens unit needs to be replaced.

Hello camera repair, I was interested in buying an canon sd1000 or something like it, but after reading all of these problems I am reluctant. Other variations include hitting a side of the camera against the palm of your hand. You may hold the end of the spring with a toothpickk to hook it over the post or you may catch the post by twisting the flap a millimeter extra before i tried all of these but my camera still did not want to work.
