Mildly pushing and turning with motor on to make the barrel progress to closed position, advancing bit by bit (I had to restart the camera more than a dozen times) until But after reading all this, thought "what the heck" and pushed harder, it clicked and went back in!!!! The Lens would attempt to come out but then go back and report a lens error and shut down. check my blog
There was one position on the zoom dial that will take a clear picture but it took a while to find it. E18 error repair failed at all attempts until I reached #11, lens adjustment.
