I have a Canon PowerShot A560 and I dropped it while I was taking a picture and it turned off. I found this usually happens when the battery starts running low and so purchased a new battery and then rarely had the problem again. Another variation includes looking for uneven gaps around the lens barrel, and then pushing on the side of the lens barrel that has the largest gap (note pushing the lens barrel jdolly, I can try. Instead, would recommend repeated cleaning's with compressed air around the lens, and also in any openings of the camera (memory card slot, battery door, etc.).

ty... Now we're entering into the realm of potentially damaging your camera in conducting the fix. You should be able to get it repaired under warranty or a camera centre. Remove the memory card and keep it removed, then install the new batteries.
