It did something similar when I fort got it, but it went away. Get it serviced, once they are serviced right by a technician, the cameras perform beautifully. The outer plastic ring was only acting as a protection for the camera's 'insides' when it was fully extended in zoom position. After going through the cycle around five more times the screen lit up and instead of the error message I got a camera settings screen - progress at last.I pressed the No more long storage in my pants pocket. Needless to say I did not want to send it to them again. More about the author Yikes!
