i'm currently overseas and although my camera is within warranty, i cant possibly send my camera back to the original country for repair. Truly invaluable advice! This person had a similar lens error to yours and fixed it by grabbing and holding onto the lens barrel as it was attempting to reclose. But I noticed there was a small gap and the lens was actually crooked when I sat it down. Variations to Fix #7b include gently pulling, rotating, and/or twisting the lens barrel while hitting the power button.
