The lens is a little noisy when it zooms, but it otherwise works.Word to the wise, don't keep loose smokes or food in the same bag as your camera. It's going to happen. I have a GE A730 that was giving a Lens Error message after being in my pocket (probably accidently hit the powerbutton and the camera freaked when it tried to extend I pushed hard on the side that was up with no change. news

The lens does not retract.The logo is still there but very hard to see as the screen seems to be dark but it is there and freezed.So switch back to OFF but I pressed gently on each of the 4 sides. Method 11 worked (1 snap into place, then 2 wiggle while turning on again and again) after camera dropped directly on lens. This is a rugged camera!!

Moving the lens takes the most power and with older cameras it is frequently necessary to replace the original batteries since weakened batteries along with the lens inhibiting factors cause errors. Am sure that this is what caused it to loosen from the caulk. I'm just going to have mine serviced by a shop. There was one position on the zoom dial that will take a clear picture but it took a while to find it.
