You have no idea how many head aches I've gone through trying to get this to work. I am so happy. Now I can use my printer again! A quick wipe and away it went!

I saw this site and the corresponding original message from ‘clem.' I cleaned the rod with a tissue several times, cleaned it with the paper towel, messed with the encoder strip, trying to take the box apart, removed all exposed screws, and it wont come apart. I had the 502 error -- did the cleaning and now have the encoder strip problem. They worked great to fix my Lexmark X5150 printer. Saved me getting the technicians in at work (made me look good in front of the boss too!). Slightly push the encoder strip down and then back up to get it into the slot. 8.
